My spouse loves me, but after 20 years, the main reason he stays and doesn’t cheat is because he will never have to support me after our working years are over.

I can be happy living with this knowledge with him. If by some miracle I outlive him, I can’t deal with another man’s neediness. I’m tired.

A lot changes along the way.

Men may value wealthy women, but women are generally more defensive about protecting their wealth than men, whether inherited or earned through work or a first marriage.

Everyone values wealthy people. How could anyone think otherwise?

No way, the attractive smart women don’t get “taken” at all, they dictate when they will marry and it’s often later in life.

"Girls with money" marry first, often in their 20s. "Attractive smart women" often wait until their 30s.

So you went for personality and looks? My ex ended up marrying an unemployed tubby who got pregnant a year after meeting him of which he tried to cheat on her with me. She knew and didn't care.

No different than men- fat, old, balding rich guys have to problem landing themselves a sugar baby. Why shouldn’t women have the same?

You realize in cases with real family money, in her name or otherwise, it’s not always simple for the man to leave. Parents look out for their daughters and grandchildren— a cheating spouse or a spouse who leaves will often be leaving with just the shirt on his back and whatever his salary is from his (hopefully not from her family!) job. So I wouldn’t chalk it up necessarily to how great these guys are, but also the conditions of the arrangement.

Yes went for personality and looks. Also someone who was beyond smart, could handle herself in a variety of situations, dress well, carry herself and had a certain level of sophistication.
