I’m $700 per week for hours of 9-3. It’s inside and air conditioned but I don’t think it should matter. If they play high school there’s no guarantee of air conditioning.

Every high school around here has air conditioning, what are you talking about?

Assuming the $700 is a typo.

My DS says the overnight Wooten camp is way better than the day camp - all indoors. He and friends also like orange line sports camp run by Arlington.

This is the St James way. Have you ever been there for something in the evening? They divide the turf into 4 sections and have multiple teams stuffed into each section. Way too many kids per section to be having a valuable practice.

My kid liked the camp, but also complained about being rotated outside. He seemed to think the instruction was very good though.

Go to the indoor training centers, Evolution or Pro-Fit.

My son attended three different basketball camps (camps he attended for several years past) run by Arlington county last year and was very disappointed because they were so overcrowded (1 indoor gym) that the kids were outside a lot, ball handling drills in a side gym or hall, or just sitting around waiting for a turn.

Don’t know exactly where you’re located in Nova, but a lot of the FCPS high schools offer basketball and other sports camps at reasonable prices. Search the high schools closest to you and “sports camps 2024.”

So they took too many kids for the space to make as much money as possible.

I have never seen a full-day summer camp around here for less than that price.

No one would expect a basketball camp to be outdoors in summer. Unless the location was a local park.

OP here. The camp was all day and my son complained daily about being outside in the heat. They set up hoops outside in the parking lot. I don’t know how much of the day was spent outside but it was long enough for my son to complain. I’m assuming there were too many kids in camp to just use the indoor courts so they rotated kids outside.

That's not even a full day! You pay more for before and after care, plus lunch.

We did that camp, and I can't remember if they told us it was partly outside. It was outdoors in the morning, mostly. It was also during the one crazy hot heat wave that we had last summer.

But for OP, I would check the local high schools for camps. They're reasonably priced.

That didn't even cross my mind. And come to think of it, most of the places we go to, kids bring their own basketballs. Usually Evolutions which aren't recommended to be used outdoors.

Also, we have been there and I don't remember seeing any usable outdoor space. Is there a park or playground or field there?
