I'm OP - definitely bored. Also excited for my DC and the next week of decisions coming out. I've never been to Wesleyan and my DC was accepted so I am looking for people's experiences. Don't know where you got "fight", but that's far from the truth and feel free to exit the thread!

Focusing on prestige alone is what makes it seem like you’re trying to gin up conflict. Is that the only factor that matters? They are pretty different schools in terms of size, location, curriculum, and vibe. My kid is going to Wes, and Tufts was not on the radar, but it had nothing to do with prestige (where I don’t think there’s much difference).

Thank you for that feedback. Not focused on prestige alone, but for better or worse my kid does care about a prestige/social life balance. I mirrored the title off of the BU/Tufts thread, which I found enlightening.

Equally prestigious (which I define as selectivity and academic reputation). Wes might have more cachet.

Not sure how you can draw this conclusion when Tufts doesn’t release ED figures. Leads people to suspect that ED acceptance rates are very high, significantly deflating RD rates (when the vast majority of applications come in).

Wes’s ED acceptance rate is usually around 40% (although probably more like 30-35% this year, based on what they’ve said so far), and RD is usually around 15%.

Looking solely at admissions figures, it’s definitely harder to get into Tufts.

I have a kid at Wes and am an alum. Kids do not go hang out in Hartford. They go up in that direction to get to Bradley. Occasionally they'll head to New Haven for the bars.

I don't get these threads. They're both great schools with excellent prestige, campuses, professors and alum networks. Go for the best fit, or apply to bith and ask about best fit only if you get into both. Both very hard admits.

Anonymous wrote:I liked the BU/Tulane thread. Let's do Wesleyan v. Tufts. Which would you choose and why?

Personally, neither. My kids are all STEM types who don't care about money, so prestige doesn't factor in for them.
