Some of us don’t care about SAT scores averages. That wasn’t even on my list of concerns when we selected our Catholic high school.

And why criticize these scores anyway? They’re all solid scores.

Surrounding public is more likely to have a group of low performers who aren't taking the SAT at all.

And most privates don't take those low performers as students. So that evens out, yet, some of the surrounding publics still have a higher SAT average.

As somebody who worked with SAT data, most of the average scores for these schools and public (even top public schools) are lower than you think. As somebody said not everybody getting 1500. Especially with school-day testing, where the majority of the kids test-- low and high performers.

When will people stop citing Niche?

The data is from Niche (which I take it as self-reports from the unrepresentative sample that is Niche users). Gonzaga's website reports its average SAT as 1295 (vs 1330 on Niche).
