Maybe he got into his lower ranked choice (let’s say Walls) but then got off the waitlist later and was admitted to his higher ranked choice (Banneker). That is a way a student could get into both. And probably the only way.
DC's friend got into SWW first even though Banneker was ranked higher. They got a call in summer from the waitlist for Banneker and enrolled.
