Not sure what buses the OP's student used, but the Pitt/DMV shuttle only stops in Frederick and Breezewood--in both directions: https://www.pts.pitt.edu/mobility/shuttle-services/buses-home

My student has used it for years, very convenient.

We paid $200 round trip from Pitt to Frederick, MD.

Just to clear up any confusion, these aren't free buses sponsored by Pitt! They're like the buses that all universities contract with (Mega Bus, Virgina Breeze, etc.). Students have to buy tickets to ride.

The Buses Home for the Holidays program is the University’s sponsored transportation departing from University Place next to Nordenberg Hall to the locations below. Departure from campus is Friday, March 8, 2024, and the return date is Sunday, March 17, 2024. All tickets are issued through Megabus.com, and essential communications including itinerary, confirmation, and travel alerts are sent to the email provided at the time of purchase. All sales are final. No refunds, exchanges, or transferring tickets.

Buses Home for the Holidays is for students only. Student ID must be shown to board the buses.

Please use your Pitt email when purchasing tickets. All communication regarding this service will be done through the email provided.

I believe it is a university sponsored bus for Pitt students.

There are other private companies that also do similar bus routes but they are advertised to Pitt, cmu and Duquesne students as well

Lots of transportation always goes in and out of KOP. All the suburbs will pick up there vs. the City. No one wants to deal with commuting in if they don't have to.

I’m surprised Pitt offers to both Philly and King of Prussia as they are only 20 mins apart but guess bc in-state has so many students. The buses are chartered by external company.
