My kid has loads of very fine curls that he keeps longer and poofier than a typical “boy cut”. I’ve been paying 120 (including tip) around every 8 weeks or so to a hipster “curl specialist” stylist that gives cuts my kid feels great about.

Before this, it was around 70 (with tip) for a boring cut he never felt good about.

My teen son cuts his own hair and does his friends’ for free. He charges acquaintances $15. I would never be able to clip my own hair in the back, but he has very long arms, is flexible, and has a double mirror set-up. Very impressive other than the cleanup. We make him do it outdoors.

I pay $15 (plus $5 tip) at a shop in Eden Center.

I pay $35 for a good hairdresser for my son's short hair. We tried the cheap barber shops, but his hair is extremely curly and we needed someone more skilled. I think the $35 is actually a steal - I pay a lot more than that to get my own hair done there.

It depends on the hair. One DS has straight, thin hair, so $20 at the barber. One has incredibly thick curls, so $55 at a salon.

The Barber Shop we use in Bethesda is Trans Barber Shop. It’s $25 and parking right next to it in the garage. Quick and they all do a solid job.

$60, same as his dad, every 5 weeks for both.
