I don’t think it does anyone any favors, in particular the child, to hide a known disability or learning difference, when applying to private schools. It’s in your kid’s interest to be honest and upfront about it. We didn’t get a diagnosis for our child until the summer after 9th grade and it’s made a world of difference (wish we had the testing and results done sooner). It’s also important for your child to be able to advocate for themselves and this approach suggests you’d encourage them to hide or mask any conditions.

My daughter has a LD in math & adhd. We shared neuropsych when applying to HC. 1/3 of the students there have a LD.

I’m hopefully not having a stroke. My question is if you have a child with a neuropsych that shows some learning disabilities and you kind of force them into a mainstream school but that school has seen the neuropsych, do you think that child can be successful?

100% yes

Agreed. We were upfront with schools when applying and shared the neuropsych with the school where our child enrolled. The school met with us to help design appropriate accommodations. Kid is doing great at the school and we feel very well supported.
