Has anyone had gastro side effects? Reading about those makes me so scared but nothing else is really working for me. I have 30-40 pounds to lose.

So half a pound a week average? That sounds decent given that you are not yet at a therapeutic dosage after only two months.

+1. Anatomy of a FB Wegovy support group:

Week 1: I’ve lost 6 pounds
Week 2: make that 12
Week 5: I lost 20 pounds on the first dose, moved up and nothing for two days. Why isn’t it working ?!?!

This, plus the people who are:

Week 1: wow, I’m only having to eat 300 calories a day
Week 2: make that 200!
Week 5: I’ve missed 6 days of work since I started due to exhaustion. When am I going to stop feeling tired all the time??? I want to exercise, really. But I’m too exhausted!!! But, plus side, down to 150 calories a day.

(For reference, my bariatric center wants me to aim for 1200 calories a day and understands that it might be closer to 1000 when I dose up or the couple days after a shot. If I drop below that or drop weight too fast, they will drop my dose, whether I like it or not. And I have a ton of energy).

Which is why I gave up on FB Wegovy support groups. Either doctors aren’t setting expectations with patients before scribing or patients aren’t listening.

It’s useful to remember the George Carlin quote about how smart the average person is, and then remembering how the other half is dumber. I’m mangling it because I don’t want to google, but you get me.

I think it’s also hard if, as someone desperate enough to turn to pharmaceuticals in order to lose weight, you see people who lose 5 pounds a week and then you only lose 1 or 2. Or none. And you don’t know if that’s temporary or that the drugs don’t work for you or are you doing something wrong.

I am losing a little less than 1 lb per week. I had 100 to lose, and I’ve lost 30 over the past 7-8 months. I went from completely sedentary to a few light workouts weekly, and I eat very little. In fact based on my calorie intake, I’m a tad frustrated the weight loss has not been a bit more. I’d love to lose 2 lbs per week so I can meet my goal more quickly. I’m moving in the right direction though. Prior to the meds I was gaining 1lb per month and was in a pretty bad place mentally. The idea of losing 100 pounds seemed insurmountable. I would see clips of those tv shows about people weight 300+ pounds and kind of understand how they got that way. Now I am so much more active, healthy, energetic, and happy.

I am super morbidly obese and I no longer have an appetite.

Wow! How are you feeling? Are you liking the weight loss? Do you still feel happiness from eating yummy foods? Has your view of what is a "yummy food" changed since being on whichever drug you're using?

I've already noticed that I am able to walk further. No not really. I don't crave food the way that I did before. I felt like I was always hungry, but now I'm starting to think that I just wanted to eat just to eat.

The no not really was in response to eating yummy foods. I am loving the weight loss. I can't really tell. When you're this big it isn't as noticable. My family says they see it. I am taking ozempic 1 mg.

I'm on Wegovy since august. I have lost between one to two pounds a week. I'm very happy with that rate, it's been steady and not fast, I've had no sagging skin or ozympic face or any of that stuff. I'm on the 1mg dose, I've been losing since the very beginning dose and my doctor and I feel that I do not need to go up anymore since I'm very close to my goal right now. In fact I'm going to be looking at ramping down at some point soon, I'd like to maintain at the lowest dose, we'll see how that goes

Less than a pound a week??? That's worse than WeightWatchers, Nutrisystem etc etc. That is way too slow for me.

Maybe work on your math skills. Losing 10lbs in 6 weeks averages 1.7lbs a week. And with minimal effort—no weighing food, counting points, stressing about what to eat, being hangry. I have been on WW for years and now on Oz. Ozempic is WAY better and so much easier.

Mine was an injection. What is the aversion? To the concept or to a specific side effect. You need to balance the health impact of being "very overweight" with the side effects of the medication.
