agree with this- a neighborhood swimming pool is a great place to develop relationships and you will get more out of it if you 'jump in' with both feet. Join the team, go to socials, if you are struggling with small talk, etc- volunteer. Pools are always looking for volunteers, and there are a lot of small jobs. e.g show up for the preseason clean up day. Offer to help with a social event, etc. You meet so many more people that way.
