Is this strictly in the category of 'social media weirdness' or do some of you think this is better and maybe even necessary? Why?

I was taught to wash it growing up. I know it’s considered not safe now (apparently because some idiots who didn’t grow up that way don’t realize you can’t contaminate surfaces while washing it) but it’s gross to me.

Not hard, but you know what is even less hard? Just not washing the meat.

I rather clean the sink.

Totally fair. I'd rather not wash the meat.

I’d rather eat food and not cooked dirt.

But unwashed meat is not washed.

And then it's cooked. Which kills everything. Or are you some sort of caveman gnawing on raw meat?

Eating clean food is the opposite of what a caveman did. So that would be you.

No, you would be the caveman who doesn’t clean their dirty food. Maybe you don’t have access to a sink since you do live in a cave.

Some do, some don’t, some soak it. If you soak it and look at what’s in the water that you pour off, you’ll probably reserve words like “insanity” for more egregious behavior.

I'm a rinser! I use my rarely used back sink for meats, and disinfect after I'm done. There is some sort of slimy coating on meats sometimes, and I prefer to wash meats that have been handled by other people.
