I used Jeannie at Your Color Guru (all virtual). She was amazing. I knew I was an autumn, but it helped to have it broken down further. We also talked strategies for wearing “bad” but beloved colors.

I have a longtime client in the fashion industry, so I was pretty skeptical at the beginning. Jeannie totally won me over, though.

Oh this is fascinating! I read a whole bunch about this last night when I couldn’t sleep and I am a very clear cool winter. Interestingly I had already figured out a lot of the colors that look good on me (though I am struggling a lot right now with the neutral palettes that seem to be in style). But I have always struggled with makeup. I basically gave up on wearing anything other than mascara and eyeliner because I couldn’t figure it out. I have had some success with going to make up counters and they spend 30 minutes figuring out a lipstick but no one has ever found a foundation that works for me. Has anyone applied their color analysis to make up and if so what worked for you?

NP. It's really not. That said, I wouldn't pay anyone to do this for me when you can do it yourself. I wish I had known years ago that silver jewelry looks MUCH better on me than yellow gold (I'm a winter). Knowing what colors suit you can make a world of difference.

I’ve been skeptical of using a service like this in the States because I need someone who can distinguish tones within East Asian complexions, whereas all the American websites I’ve seen have been like, “green veins, you’re olive!”

I did mine in Asia for $300. Even there it wasn't cheap! But it has been worth it. I have been wearing the wrong colors.

It’s not a scam at all. I thought it would be. But I loved it. It’s easy to shop now. I look better and get lots of compliments, and I feel confident.

I questioned the money as well but it’s been so worth it for me.

The very cheapest way to find your color season, btw, is to try on lipsticks. If you can spare half an hour or so at a MAC counter or store, you can probably get a pretty good idea. This is a good list: https://infinitcloset.com/color-analysis-test-using-lipsticks/

Rachel Nachmias also has good lists for each season; google her name + best lipstick dark autumn (or whatever).

I did mine with Ashleigh in Midlothian. I loved it and I use the knowledge every DAY! It’s so easy to shop now.
