It’s not a focus of the program per se, but Makos has a great coach that does focus on distance. I think he also coaches the distance swimmers for the GMU team. Location isn’t great for your potential towns, but worth a look.

I was going to say that I can name a handful in Gold AM who do very well at the 400 IM and at least one who routinely swims longer distances, but I don’t think it’s a focus.

For those locations, I’d talk to Machine and NCAP Tysons. (I can’t speak to distance specifically, but those are the stronger programs in those areas.)

NCAP Tysons doesn't really do distance. That would be Claude Moore or Georgetown Prep-- both WAY too far from the target area.

Machine distance is Audrey Moore, also pretty far.

OP as long as you move to McLean or Vienna and decently close to the Highway it wouldn’t take you that long at all to get to Audrey Moore as it’s right off the exit of 495 and I’ve only heard good things about that site from the families at our summer pool so may be worth checking out.

Until the kid wants to go to doubles and is trying to get from Vienna to Annandale in 30 minutes at 3:30 pm. Very stressful and most days impossible.

You cannot beat NCAP Prep for mid and distance free, but it is too far away from the area indeed.

Ncap Tysons trains for 400 IM, while not “distance” freestyle, they certainly try to develop an aerobic foundation in their swimmers.
