Been debt-free since 2018, at age 44. Paid off my mortgage balance (which was only ~$125k) when the SALT caps and increased individual deductions were put in place. No longer made sense for me to itemize.

$650k mortgage left on a $1.2m purchase price (worth closer to $1.6 now). Nothing else, I finished my $84k of student debt.

$165k mortgage at 2.875% on a $850k house. No other debt. 50 year old divorced woman.

$150k left on mortgage (house now worth about $1.2M). No other debt. Age 54

$550k on primary house; $104k on rental, no student loans or car or credit card debt. Rates are good, payments are very manageable. 41/42.

$280,000 mortgage on a $525,000 house. 15 year mortgage. That’s it. Could pay off the house now but we’ve all had that conversation before on this board.

15 years ago I was massively in credit card debt due to the fall out of the recession. Amazing what time, luck (marrying up, in my case) and watching expenses can do.
