Most islands tend to have a breeze so the hotness doesn't feel as hot. I've been to FL and Puerto Rico multiple times in July/August. It felt more oven-like in FL than in Puerto Rico.
Then again, once you go into the water, it cools you down, no??

Isn’t Sante Fe hot?

It's at 7,500 feet. And June is the hottest month, before the monsoons arrive. (Inshallah)

It's dry. Makes a difference.

To a point. After 110+ hot is hot period.

DP. Does Santa Fe get that hot?

I was comfortable in Phoenix in the shade when it was 95. I don’t go outside here when it’s 80 and humid - can’t breathe because the air is so thick.

Don’t go to USVI in the summer. Horribly humid.

Anonymous wrote:I hate the heat, but I agree that the Caribbean is fine in August thanks to the breeze. Last year we went to Anguilla as well and hardly anyone was there. It wasn’t too hot and we had no trouble getting a table at any of the restaurants. Hawai’i is wonderful in the summer too. If you have little kids, the waves are much calmer. Bermuda is another place I really enjoyed in August.

Places I would avoid in July/August due to oppressive heat: New Orleans, Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, Italy, Spain.

Also agree that the Caribbean is fine in summer, just be sure to stay by the water. I used to travel to a different island in the summer somewhat frequently and stayed in places where we could turn off the AC at night and open the windows, the breeze was so pleasant. Could never do that here! Just one thing to keep in mind is that the sun is really intense during the day.

Sicily, Crete - Mediterranean is a big no. Go to Iceland - perfect.

I've lived in Tucson and Homestead. Give me Tucson any day. Humidity sucks.

I can't stand the DMV in the summer. Just can't stand it. So, cooler than here.

Quebec City felt right. Twenty degrees cooler, every single day.

Went to a wedding in Jamaica in August and it was insanity. I love hot weather and this was just sick. Constantly drenched in sweat.

+1. Not a fluke. We have had oppressive heat in July/August in OBX, but no breeze, no waves, and the water was about 40 degrees fahrenheit. And those enormous dragonflies abound! We did not care to stay in the smelly house, so we never went back.

I went to Aruba in September and found it WAY too hot (have gone in the winter and spring as well). The sand at times burned my feet.

So, if you found Florida in August unbearable. I would rethink.
