We are waiting on one deferral that is expected at the end of the month. It’s going to be a long month. Are working on narrowing down and think she has a favorite that she will pick unless she gets in to deferred school.

First, yes, we are in this boat and it's tough. I have tried very, very had with DD to stress that what she does in college is far more important than which college she attends. I've also stressed that stats like hers (4.93w GPA, 35 ACT, good EC's) just means you get a ticket to the lottery, not that win. We are stressing that her EA admits, which include state flagship with merit and a respectable SLAC with huge merit, are great options even if none of her reaches pan out. Still, gonna be a long and bumpy month!

Good suggestion for distracting and putting everything in perspective! I am planning to get a lot of yard work and closet cleaning done in next few weeks. And congrats to your kiddo on getting in with regular decision. Hope that will happen for a lot of waiting kids since there were so many deferrals this year.

First child was deferred, and the wait was very long. I got through it by thoroughly convincing myself she would thrive at her likely, which she had already been admitted to. Never was able to fully convince her, but at least she wasn’t as worried about disappointing me. Documentaries about educational inequities (“Waiting for Superman”) reminded me of that we had first-class problems. Got good news in the end. Hang in there!

My DD and us received an email from one of her schools today (Denison) that said decisions will be on the portal 3/14 at 6:31 PM.

I'm guessing all the other schools that didn't announce a date (all those "by April 1" schools) will be sending out emails in the next few weeks with the actual dates.

In the same boat. Waiting on roughly 10 decisions (3 of them deferrals). Very nervous based on all the “RD is a bloodbath” type messaging but hoping a couple pull through.

I took a look back at last year's Instagram announcements from each of the Admissions offices for remaining schools on my kid's list. Have no idea how closely those dates will line up with this year especially since so many delays happen because of FAFSA debacle, but definitely seems like most decisions are out in the last two weeks of March. Definitely remind your kids to check their emails regularly over the next few weeks.

Yes, as the time approaches most of the liberal art schools (no idea about bigger/state schools) will start to put out messages. Sometimes with a specific date and time to check the portal and other times a bit more oblique (decisions coming later this week). Some use the admissions Instagram feed to make announcements. College Confidential also starts to get more active with speculation on date and time based upon patterns in previous years.
