My grandparents had this great chair that I loved to curl up in and read. It was similar to a papasan chair, but it was 60’s modern instead of the traditional rattan. It also swiveled, which was a definite plus.

A couple of miscellaneous thoughts:

While I love to stretch out and read, I’d rather do that in bed or on the couch. I think if I had a chair for reading, I’d probably want it to be a different experience.

Consider what height she’s liable to end up. We always brought furniture to accommodate my 6’ tall husband, and it never fit my 5’2” frame right. The seat was deeper than my thigh was long, so my knee didn’t reach the edge of the seat, which was so uncomfortable I slouched a lot, still didn’t reach the edge, and my legs dangled awkwardly, not reaching the floor. On the other hand, the furniture that would have been comfortable for me would have been completely unworkable for him. As a child, everything’s going to be oversized, but if you want her to use it as an adult, think of what might fit her best then.

For those with Poang, which cushions do you have, there are many options?

Can you share an example of the hammock chair, even if not the exact one?

While it's not the most aesthetic thing in the world, my 13 year old son LOVES the $60 hammock chair he got for Christmas. My husband said he'd never use it, so I asked my 19 year old niece, who also has one. She raved that it's her favorite reading chair for the past 9 years, so I bought one. My son has searched out more reading material just so he can sit in this chair! I don't have the link, but I purchased it from walmart or target.

That said, I'd agree with the prior post suggesting some Ikea options. A growing child may find she prefers a different size or style as she ages and as she develops her own sense of style, and purchasing something which is comfortable now but not necessarily a lifelong commitment makes more sense than spending more on a chair which may not suit her in the long-term. Some of Ikeas products are comfortable, ergonomic, and sturdy enough to last a good while if not abused.

OP, check Home Goods and Home Sense too. They keep getting one of a kind chairs all the time. Some of them were really cute and comfy. Price usually $399 or $499 (swivel chairs). If I hadn't bought mine already would have definitely purchased from there.

Got it for for $1k at the outlet. (The Restoration Hardware outlet is my biggest life hack. I got an incredible 8 foot long couch, sticker price $8000, bought for $2000 at the outlet plus the cost of same day delivery. If you are near one, it is so so worth it.)

I've held on to my IKEA poang for like 20 years, since I was starting out, and even now in our house with many comfy chairs, the kids (and my husband and I) love reading in it. with an ottoman and a nice cushion to set the book on. It's really great.

The objectively best reading chair we have in the house is from restoration hardware. If you go to the outlet, you will find chairs for less than $2k. I think this was $1k. My husband's favorite reading spot.
