So in a scenario where step parent is a billionaire, parent married to step parent doesn’t work, and other parent is in a low paying profession (like a teacher), that child should get significant financial aid? Doesn’t seem like the best use of funds.

Folks are likely to miss your question and answer OP because you bumped a year-old thread.

I don’t know the answer, but I do know that both Clarity’s help chat and our school were very responsive in answering questions when we filled it out last fall.

No.

Clarity gives suggestions to the financial aid directors but those people are ultimately responsible for deciding who gets what. Some schools have a committee that approves decisions but ultimately the director is the person who makes the decisions.

I did my best to avoid answering altogether, and to instead focus on why we were interested X school. But you are right, honesty is (almost) always the best policy...

I would say that the school that offered more FA is likely one that many on this forum would consider a lower tier, but so is one of the schools that offered less.

And here I was thinking I was being strategic when schools asked what other schools we were applying to. They can see that information for any families using Clarity to apply for financial aid.
