We had Merrifield come to our house and draw a design and the person who did it was a professional landscape designer. I think it was $50 for him to come out and maybe $150 for the design? We only did the front yard, so the design would’ve been more if we did additional areas. They wanted $7000 for the plants plus installation but we bout the plants from them for $2000 and our regular landscape company installed for $2000.

In another house we paid by the hour and it was $200/hour. She did oversee the project but we hired the contractors.

Could you share which company you used for the big plan?

We did a plan for about 4 acres and it cost 10,000

$1800 for a conservation landscape design from a CL expert as part of a VCAP grant application.

$5000 for a comprehensive landscape and hardscape design from Groff which can be applied to any accepted project.

$75ish for Merrifield and Meadow Farms.

$0 for a hand-drawn (awesome) design from Area Landscaping.

$350 was what a friend paid for a design from an independent landscape designer.

The designer is not expensive it's the plants and planting costs.

Would you mind sharing which designer you used?

The design phase is usually around $1,000. It is a lot of work. With a good design, you can do the planting yourself, which is why you pay for the design up front and then planting, materials, hardscaping, maintenance are separate.

We just paid $1500 for the landscape designer fee and $7000 for plants and labor. Ours was a 3 day job and the designer over saw everything. Our yard is large and this was with adding a few trees which were $$$
