The unipolar moment in women's soccer is over.

The rest of the world has caught up to the artificial head-start we had based on Title IX.

Finally people are starting to understand why ECNL is not good for players.

Yes, and also look at all the new young talent in the USWNT, specifially this selection, the following players did not go to college or left early to go pro, I might miss one:

Horan (not young but first notable player to forgo college to go pro)
Shaw
Rodman
Smith
Moultrie
Albert
Fishel
Swanson
Thompson

ECNL again is the elite option for college, but a failing model for international soccer success and long term skill development because coaches are too powerful and play for results. Girls need pro-pathways ASAP! GA are you paying attention, this is a market inefficiency waiting for a league to create pro-pathways

There aren't enough girls good enough to skip college to make a league focusing solely on pro-pathways viable.

Yes there is and they’re stagnating in college.

So shortsigted and frankly just dumb, if Spain a country the size of what Montana I'm guessing, can basically field their B team to win a WC pretty sure the USWNT with a 30 year head start can field one leage focused soley on pro-pathways for girls.

La Liga clubs are spending more on girls academies than the NWSL teams are spending on pro salary. Where is the money coming from for your league?

As a woman that started playing travel soccer in the mid70s, with some of the original USWNT players--we just had a 30 year start.

Not only did other countries not allow women to play, futbol/soccer was all-male. Today, even many of the stadiums for the USMNT are all men. And are the pubs surrounding them, etc. It was fascinating to waltz right into the ladie's loo and be the only one there while there was a line halfway around the stadium for the men's.

The countries that know how to develop players AND identify talent have been doing for over a century. They began applying that to their women's teams about 8-10 years ago. They are catching up and surpassing. You see a lot of the top women players have to go to Europe to play too.

Other countries have civic minded clubs (or at least clubs that pretend to be civic minded) footing the bill. Somehow, I don't see DC united investing in women's and girl's facilites to rival Man City or Barcelona

Look at your players and parents. Stop blaming everybody else.

PP listed 9 women who went straight to the pros over the course of 12 years. How is that enough to make a youth league that disregards college recruiting and focuses on the pros viable?

Umm… US Soccer recently promoted GA to the same level as MLS NWSL USWNT USMNT USL etc.

These are the same people that created Development Academy to address this issue 10 years ago.

They know we’re in trouble. Soon there’s going to be an NWSL Next equivalent for girls.

The thing about pay to play is that no one really cares about how kids other than their own develop. People will seek out what they believe is best for their kid, not what is best fore every kid's development

Also has to be noted that when you ask about the 'Top' league for girls, consensus says that its the ECNL. A platform built on placing players into the collegiate game, a game that does NOT mirror global soccer.

Good point. ECNL is an aggressive, pushy selfish match.
