Arlingtons teams aren’t good on the girls side other than the 2011. McLean wouldn’t want to merge with them, no chance

Not sure about SYC but isn’t Arlington already pretty big as it is? They have like 5-6 travel teams per age group.

I’m so confused nowadays. I’m searching for a nice ECNL home in VA. Will someone please explain what those are for the FALL 2024, and what the difference is between VUFC and FVU girls teams?

Yes. It’s simple. Fidelio

Ecnl should have merged McLean with Arlington and Brave with SYC. Missed opportunity here.

What “inner circle”? Is it like eyes wide shut? There’s a 50% chance your DC will be coached next season by a Brave coach and practicing at Woodson or Robinson. I also suspect a lot of Union players looking for new clubs next season. Maybe McLean rl as most will not make another ecnl club.

There is very little to be gained by actually going through with a merger with this dying club at the high cost of losing existing players and coaches. Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free?

By going forward with the merger, McLean risks alienating all of its existing coaches - and any current players who don’t want to lose their coach. If there are some BRAVE coaches that Mclean likes (yeah, uh…) they will all be available soon.

Kill the merger, post the coaching lineup, and ID session dates ASAP or risk losing current coaches and talent.

Are there any real businesspeople looking at this for McLean?

Wishful thinking but it’s ecnl forcing two clubs with issues to merge. No backing out at this point. Any near term collateral damage will be overcome in the long term or through additional mergers. If that doesn’t sound like a real businesspeople running things then you don’t know business.

Lol - “real” business people. The only thing lower than BRAVE’s business acumen is their futbol acumen.

That may be true but if a club a with low business and futbol acumen and a club that was NCSL just three years ago are merging with a founding ecnl club as equals, who really got played here?

Did McLean get played, or have they declined in a way its families just aren’t ready to acknowledge? Whether in a business or a futbol context, a true bottom dweller never takes down a true titan. Which is more likely, Brave being substantially better than we thought or McLean being substantially worse than we thought?

You really think this is an equal partnership? Or could it possibly be nice public talk to start a relationship on the right path?

You really think it’s not an equal partnership? That McLean has all of the coaching slots and field preferences and they’re just waiting to announce anything to create suspense? Or could they be working out how a merger of equals looks across two clubs that didn’t want to merge in the first place?
