Agree that there’s a difference between a babysitter and a nanny. Nannies with experience are getting $25/hr, and if they have higher qualifications (degree in early childhood education, Montessori certified, etc) they’re getting $35-45. However, for a young college grad without full time childcare experience and looking for a short term gig, I would think $20/hr is about right. I’d increase to $23-25/hr since they’re twins.

Shame on you. How is her English? Good enough?

The more hours worked, the lower the hourly gets.

Also, there are a lot of other factors? Does she get paid when the family is on vacation (this can really add up)? Do they provide a transit pass? Is it on the books? If so, families often cover all taxes, which adds up.

The going rate here is $35 for 2 kids, so I would expect it to be higher in Manhattan.

A mom offered $20/hour to watch nearly 3 y.o. twins from 7-6 every day. That seems low to me but maybe I am out of the loop. Gig is based in Manhattan - UWS, but the daughter also looking on UES.

Where is Urban Baby when you need it! What do folks do now to find out such info in an anonymous fashion?

TIA for any insights/suggestions.

If she has good references, 25-30/hr. for a college-aged caregiver.
