It was his first choice so he’s disappointed. We know two other kids with similar stats who also were waitlisted, so it must have been a really tough year.

Write a letter to the school saying why you love the school/ continue to be interested/ it is your child's top choice.

If anything new for your child also write that in the letter. They won an award/ volunteer somewhere/any great updates write in the letter.

Yield may be important to them, so only really write this if your child would take the spot if given.

Thanks. He’s going to write a letter. We definitely would take the spot, if offered.

PP when I say you I mean the child should write the letter, not the parent.

I’d love to know what people mean by “athlete.” He plays sports? Or he was actually recruited?

He wasn’t recruited. His coaches may have put in a good word or two. Or may not have. I’m not sure. The sport he plays is important to Gonzaga.

I’m very surprised that he was admitted given his lackluster HSPT scores.

Sorry to hear this one. I’d definitely have your son write a short letter if he’s still interested.

Yeah. My son is a good athlete and we talked to the coach, but no way was it a factor other than as an extra-curricular.

Sorry. I assume they rank the waitlist and you're close to the top of the pile. This one is surprising to me. My son had a similar resume and got accepted: straight As DCPS but a 90 HSPT. Non-religious. Feeling lucky right now.

My son was waitlisted and truthfully I thought he would get outright rejected. As & Bs, super athlete but 53% on HSPT. So, I was happy for the soft landing for my son lol. He will be happy elsewhere so he will be ok.

Yes. Not at a Catholic school though.

For those WL - if G is his #1, I’d absolutely have son write a letter expressing continued interest. I’d probably also work with him on his next choice. DS has loved Gonzaga and his ms friends have all liked their various other high schools.
