There are some safety improvements being made but it’s an extremely dangerous road and the number of scooters doesn’t help. And very few of the kids on scooters wear helmets. You can believe me or not.

I believe this is true. The other negatives that I heard about UF is that the students are very competitive and cutthroat (esp. pre med) and many classes are online. Still, due to its ranking, UF is the school that nearly all Floridians strive bc it is the best school that they can go to for either cheap or free.

I can understand why Florida kids go here- it is basically the school to go if you are a Florida resident but can't get into Ivy. Even if you can get into Ivy, the Ivy might not be affordable. Florida publics are genuinely affordable - especially for Florida residents but even for out of state. So you will see incredibly high stats, competitive kids at University of Florida. Also, because UF cannot take all the high stats Florida kids, some will go to FSU and others will go to UCF (for engineering and comp sci). I think actually FSU is getting nervous about UCF 's growing reputation (and many engineering and comp sci kids choosing UCF over FSU) that FSU has started offering more merit money this year.

Not sure about online classes- but I do understand that being an issue at UF.

No, W&M in state tuition only (which is what I'm quoting above for Florida) is $24k.
