Every FCPS MS has kids who are taking Algebra 1 H in 8th grade. I would be shocked if there was a MS that does not have an Algebra 1 H class in 7th grade. There are kids who can handle TJ at every MS, it is not false hope. I do think that encouraging kids who are taking Algebra in 8th grade is problematic because I don't think that those kids are as strong in math, which is a TJ prereq, or in position to take advantage of the advanced classes that are available at TJ.

But every FCPS MS should have a class of kids taking Algebra 1 H in 7th grade that could be candidates for TJ. I think the fact that many of those MS don't use all of their slots points to kids who don't feel confident in their abilities or don't want to attend TJ for some reason. The few who take the offer are kids who might have been overlooked in the old system because they are less likely to have been prepped for the exam and might not have scored as high as other kids.

I assume they enter TJ having completed a higher level math from middle school or skipped certain math levels?

There are kids who enter TJ having completed Algebra 2. I think the vast majority of kids enter having completed Geometry and would be starting at Algebra 2/Trig.

Either of these kids, what TJ courses do they take in Freshman to start Calc BC in sophomore?

Geometry in 7th
Algebra 2 in 8th

It's a track that parents or teachers have to push for with some extraordinary proof, not a normal advertised thing.

Math 4/5 are precalculus classes, so if those were taken freshman year they'd be set to do calculus as a sophomore and have access to elective/higher level math junior/senior year.

More likely they took algebra 1 in 7th, geometry over the summer, and algebra 2 in 8th.

If you have completed Geometry in 8th grade, you start with TJ Math 3. If you have completed Algebra 2 in 8th grade, you start with TJ Math 4. Both are semester courses. In 9th grade you will take either TJ Math 3 or TJ Math 4 for one semester and Research Statistics I for the other semester.
