Find a team where no parents show up for the games. That's probably the most stable (and happiest) team in the DMV.
My oldest son is on a U18/19 MLSNext team. Kids drive themselves to practice, scrimmages and most games.
It's very pleasant. People are nice and if parents come to the games--they really want to just watch.
The worst parental behavior, I've found, is in younger ages when parents really think their kid is going to be the next Pulisic or Mia Hamm.
