People, there's a big difference in installation of gas vs. electric appliance. You cannot simply remove one and put in another without rewiring electric or running a new gas pipe. This is true for your dryer, oven, water heater, furnace, etc.

Had gas dryer in old house. Ran exactly same way as our current electric. No difference in operation.

Ooops, sorry, I meant electric dryers need the high voltage. Gas dryers need a gas pipe connection. Most people don't have both in their laundry area.

I'm in a similar situation and will wait until the appliance breaks down before replace with electric. It seems wasteful to rip everything out now. Some of the items are only 8 years old from when we renovated.

As already stated, you cannot easily change your gas oven or dryer to electric without having an electrician rewire your house for the required 220V connections. It will probably cost several hundred $$ or more depending on the configuration of your house.

This. Use some common sense. Getting rid of a newish appliance causes more harm than good.

Back in the olden days of my youth, everybody had a gas dryer. Now, it's more common to have an electric one. You probably can't just change from one to the other because of the difference in the way they are installed in the house. Gas dryers need a gas hookup while electric dryers need a 220V connection. Most houses have one or the other, but not both. It's the same way with an electric or gas oven. You probably only have connections for one type in your kitchen. If you want to change, you'll need to hire a plumber to run gas pipe or an electrician to install a 220V circuit.

Dude, get a drying rack. Very few clothes run through our dryer ever.
