We also moved our kids out of FCPS in middle, due to all the fights, racial slurs, school vandalism, etc. it was really a safety issue for us.

But the worst part was the total lack of response and accountability by FCPS. Our child was bullied relentlessly by one child in particular. The school refused to hear us and accused our child of instigating the bullying. When the bully eventually injured a different child, the school suspended the bully for only ONE day. When we renewed our complaint after that incident, the school said they couldn’t impose a longer suspension because it “could result in learning loss” (for the bully).

FCPS no longer provides a safe learning environment. We are much happier with our child in a private here.

what school did you choose and why?

We switched our kids to private MS for those grades only; kids then went back to MCPS for HS in an IB program at our assigned neighborhood school.
