For everything except academia though, yes most people only need at most an MBA or a MS in Finance/Accounting/Marketing/etc. People don't get PHDs to work outside of academia. They don't need it, jobs pay extremely well with just a BS or an MBA

Business school PhD faculty do not have undergraduate business degrees.

Business is a vocational degree like HR or dental hygiene. It's fine, but anyone can do it so it's not clear why you even need to go to school for it.

Just to name a view is harder than getting in regular admission so the OP is asking an asinine question. Business majors may be more practical and career-oriented and less "high-brow" intellectual than some other majors. My kid is a business major with great grades and a 35 ACT from aBig 3. I'm glad he's doing it it's perfect match for his skills and interests.
