Tech credit is built into the SMCS program. There is a required course students take in the fourth and fifth semesters.

Yeah, its Foundations of Tech, but taught with magnet teachers and cohort (but no mag weighting).

My Blair kid didn't do any summer classes because she had the extra period. Took orchestra every year except one, but that was because Chamber conflicted with her nath class for which there was only 1 section.

My Wheaton kid with 7 class schedule took health over the summer.

First off, you do not get the magnet ‘diploma’ until you graduate - its with your regular diploma. Second- most magnets; at Blair, RM and Poolesville do Health in the summer so they can take the rest of their courses and the ones they want to take. Third, magnets at Blair do not take the tech credit in the summer, as its built into their curriculum.

I think you need to be on track to stay in the school. I can’t imagine my kid wanting to leave at the end of junior year because he doesn’t have enough electives or something. It would seem like if you made it that far you’d want to graduate with your class.
