There are girls on my DD’s ECNL team who will never be good enough to play college soccer (D1, 2, or 3) no matter how much coaching or development they get. ECNL is a college soccer pathway - to stay that way there needs to be consolidation in Nova.

Confirm my nuts. Junk posting

Simple. Talent consolidation. The DMV is terribly diluted. NOVA can't support 5 ECNL clubs while also adding now 3 GA options and remain competitive on a national stage.
ECNL is only aggressively expanding and taking GA clubs to kill of GA. Once GA is no longer a credible threat ECNL will then prune the vines through the use of the Regional league for underperforming clubs.
If the soccer ecosystem was this organized like a corporate takeover you are describing sure, but soccer is far from that organized or planned out as you are suggesting this current ECNL takeover to be. GA is fine, you will see

May not be confirmed yet but it is out there and happening.
And yes the talent is far too diluted but there is also a lot of talent!
ECNL is telling Union and brave boys that they need to do this. Nothing to do with the girls.

What happened to VDA they needed, PWSI, VSA?
What happened to Loudoun? They needed Valor and GFR.
What happened to Richmond United? They needed Richmond Kickers and Strikers.
What happened to FCV? They needed Ashburn, South County, and a gym.
