Texas is stronger than UF. Arkansas is no weaker than Bama or Ole Miss.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:UGA is one of the best schools in the SEC for academics and for a top tier atmosphere in Athens. Which school in the conference is the most similar?
It is probably the best public in the SEC. When it comes to academics, it's:
Vandy
TX/GA/FLA
Auburn/A&M
Everyone Else (not you Mississippi State)
Mississippi State
South Carolina/Tennessee
Everyone Else
South Carolina and Tennessee are no better than any other SEC school, please. I wouldn’t even put Auburn up there.
Vanderbilt
Florida
Texas
Georgia
Everyone Else
Miss State, Arkansas

Which school in big 10 is most comparable?
UGA academics are on par with Wisconsin.
UGA is similar to Wisconsin in all academics. Why would you think otherwise? If it's "below" it's negligible.
Wisconsin a great school but still a large state school along the same lines as the others. They appear more selective because they get more apps from all over and take more OOS.
+1 Clearly UGA has caught Wisconsin. Michigan is still marginally better.

Very similar schools outside of geography. Wisconsin may have a slight edge on national reputation.
Pros and cons to each, depending on major. Pro to UW- Lake/hockey Pro to UGA- weather/football
I would never pick one over the other based on academics only location, vibe, etc.

I think this is correct. Academically, Texas too starting next year. If Athens is the draw Ole Miss in Oxford, but the academics are going to be at the opposite end of the SEC spectrum from UGA
Why TX next year?

This thread is about the SEC.
