Oh I love this!
Lottie is so cute.

Because it doesn’t really matter for them.

So glad Meghan got out of there. the princesses that marry in are always in danger. Reminds me of the upcoming Netflix movie damsel. I hope Kate gets better. Seems like William is the type that would metaphorically throw her to the dragons just like his dad did.

On the birth certificates of his kids Harry was Duke of Sussex as last name, not Mountbatten-Windsor. So now the kids will go by Sussex, the way William’s kids go by Cambridge now with his new title.
William’s kids now go by Wales after William became Prince of Wales.
No, he was Prince of Wales and became Duke of Cambridge upon his wedding. Same with Harry, first Prince of Wales and then Duke of Sussex.
William became Prince of Wales when the Queen died in 2022. He was given the title Duke of Cambridge after his wedding in 2012, and his children were enrolled in school with the last name Cambridge. Now that he has a “higher level” title than Duke of Cambridge, they will be George/Charlotte/Louis Wales, just like William and Harry were known as William Wales and Harry Wales in college and the military. I believe on the children’s birth certificates both William and Kate didn’t even use a last name.
To;dr, their “family name” is Mountbatten-Windsor (really, it’s just Windsor), but informally their last name is their title or their father’s.
No! He grew up Prince of Wales.

Before marrying and receiving his own title, William and Harry used their father’s title in the same way as their children go by their current titles now. William went from William of Wales through his father’s title to the Duke of Cambridge then back to the Prince of Wales when it became his highest title.
They were born Mountbatten-Windsor. There was no "going back to the Prince of Wales">
