In my case (45) parents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, also those of DH, are still alive. All 80 and above. They are just now starting to decline, so I guess we need to brace ourselves for the first losses...
I’m one of the PPs whose dad died when he was 44 and I was 16. He had undiagnosed celiac disease before it was a disease people were aware of. That led to cancer and he died of internal bleeding. From diagnosis to death was like 3 months.

Subject: How old were you when you lost your parents?
39 when my dad died; 47 when my mom died. I miss them all the time and especially miss that my kids don't have them in their lives. All my friends still have 1 or both living parents. It's hard not to be envious.

Lost my mom at 30, she was 60. It will be three years next week. The pain is still unbelievable some days.
