If there is a man who says that he only feels that he and you (woman) are friends and then gives you a really tight and long (at least 30 seconds) hug, what does that mean? Does he truly feel like a friend or is there something more going on? The woman is married, the man is single.

If he's gay, this is comforting. If he's het, this is super weird, unless they're childhood friends or otherwise especially close.

30 seconds of physical contact is pretty intimate.

Held, no squeeze, no grope.

He cares about her.

In what way?

As far as I can tell she doesn’t like being groped.

She doesn’t hug you but does everyone else? Have you tried initiating?

My wife is a hugger with everyone but me.
As far as I can tell she doesn’t like being groped.

Hold. Do not squeeze me. EVER! And NO groping. That is weird.

What kind of hug is this? With a romantic partner? Ask her. Anybody else? Quick, informal, barely touching hug.

A hug can include a quick squeeze but then it’s released. Being held is different, and it depends if you are sitting up or lying down. It sounds like you are overthinking it. Are you very inexperienced?

NP. Please spare your hugs. I personally hate to be hugged by anyone apart from close friends, my kid and DH.

I especially hate it when I meet new people who impose their hugs on my by claiming "I'm a hugger!", as if that would entitle them to touch me beyond a handshake. "Well, I'm not a hugger" Is my reply.

I love a good long squeeze. But, my husband knows that when he holds me it calms me down.

How old are you ? And what is the context of your question? Are you old enough to be reading this?
