Scouts is year round, he is in a Troop. He does summer camp and winter camp plus the monthly camps and dues. Dues are about $120 for a year. Regular monthly camping, for a weekend, is about $25 a weekend. Summer camp is about $600 for a week of over night camp. Winter camp is about $200. He is pretty active and the camps are a lot of fun. He does merit badges and hangs out with his friends. You can easily do Scouts spending less but you lose the summer camp or winter camp experiences, which are a ton of fun.

Swimming $5k, summer swim and club swim for two kids. Suits, goggles, spirit wear, etc.

Scouts/Soccer: $1k

Skiing: $8-$10k. Travel to races, team fees, equipment, etc. This doesn’t include off season camps or season passes. Need to add up how much I’ve spent.

We spend around $5k per kid per year on music lessons, sports, enrichment and camps. We do very few camps, no travel sports, no private tutoring or private coaching.

Where are my travel sport parents? We spend about 4k for each kid and I know this is on the low side. Plus their other activities probably adds another 1k if we include camping gear for scouts, costumes and fees.

Rec baseball and softball two seasons a year, karate the school year for both kids, dance for one, music lessons for one = $5,500 a year. That does not include supplies for any of those activities that need to be replaced - this year that has included an instrument cleaning kit, reeds for two instruments, two sets of dance shoes…..

Then there’s sleepaway camp which is roughly $10k more than I’d pay if we just sent the kids to day camps, so I’d consider that excess an extra.

One kid per school year is about $8000, that includes multiple sports with one being a travel sport, and weekly music lessons.

My other two kids are younger, and probably $2500 each per school year on sports and things like art classes.

I'll be on the other end here, but my kids are still early elementary age. Kids are in K and 3rd and are in aftercare at school. No additional activities for the kid in K this school year- just letting him adjust. 3rd grader has done a running program at school this past fall (and will be in it again this spring) and basketball this winter. Total for all that is under $400. They'll both have swimming lessons in the summer so that'll be a few hundred dollars. I can't really think of anything else.

Other than that, they play with friends in the neighborhood, and we go to museums, amusement parks, local parks, etc. on the weekends.

Yes it’s tiring, I don’t get to spend much time with my spouse unless we both WFH for a day. They love it though, and it’s short lived until they pare down the list of what they like playing best.

My daughter (7) is in aftercare and does private piano lessons. That's $2200 a year (184 a month) and $7800 ($650/ month) for aftercare each year. DD (4) is in aftercare (I don't know the cost, I pay $3000 for her school each month). And she does gymnastics which is $1330 a year ($111/month).

Not counting summer camp at $400 per week per kid (2 kids) but we need the childcare.
Kid 1: $600 a month (3 activities)
Kid 2: $120 a month but its only one activity
Plus $4k a semester combined for both kids for weekend heritage language school

We all drive them, DH is WFH so he has the lions share of driving. Saturday school 9-1:30 gives us couple time and a break as well.

Still less than the nanny we had before preschool and a little leas than preschool ($17k per kid per year)
