You don’t have Covid I went four years thinking our tests sucked and we got Covid for the first time in January - all tests lit up instantly. When you know, you know, it’s not the tests.

Op back. Thank you I will look these up. The two brands we have had are iHealth and CareStart. My aunt passed away from Covid last year in June so I am likely somewhat proactive about catching it early. I am also immunocompromised.


The orange ihealth ones certainly worked for my kid.

DP. I'm sorry about your aunt, OP, and I understand it must be so tough to be immunocompromised in a time when so many are dismissing covid now as nothing, which is wrong.

Try Binax (I've seen them at CVS), FlowFlex or the Walgreens "house brand" tests in the dark blue boxes. I find the Walgreens ones pretty easy to use, in fact. It was a Walgreens test that we used when we had covid a few months back. And again, take care re: things like swabbing deeply enough for long enough and not over- or under-wetting test strips, being sure the surface is perfectly flat where the test sits, etc. I find the tests good but some types are VERY fiddly. But it does sound as if the free tests have some issue that isn't necessarily about you! I wish you the best.



Thank you PP! Op here again. Surprisingly even with my immune systems state, I have never tested positive at the physician nor on an at home test. Even displaying the same symptoms at the same time my children and husband tested positive for Covid. I’ll try a few of these other brands and keep them around. It would be good to have some accuracy at home without going to the physician each time.

To get a proper sample you really have to get the swab way up in the nose to the point it’s not very comfortable at all, and do the full 5 sweeps around the inside of each nostril. The doctor’s office will be very practiced at this uncomfortable but effective swabbing method.

DP- we just looked into this and United healthcare does not cover it. The program ended last year.

We have never had an issue with free or paid tests. We are now paying for the same test brand that used to come for free. You seriously might want to consider if you are not swabbing for long enough or high enough in the nose.
