lots of old record and vintage shops my teens like, shane confectioners is one of the oldest candy stores in the country in old city has cocoa there too, the penn museum is not too big but has lots of quirky things, if they like ballet the philly ballet is in a super fun old theater get a balcony and feel like they are in an outtake from a movie, also my kids love the chocolate shop at reading terminal that sells chocolate body parts -ears, noses etc.. nothing x rated

After tasting some of the food in Philly, maybe he won't be so grumpy? (Cheesesteaks, amazing Italian, etc)...As another poster stated, it's an angry city so he won't stick out.

My teen gets less grumpy when I let him travel with his gaming laptop. He knows that no matter wht we do during the day, he'll be able to game and chat with his friends online that night when we get back to the hotel. That helps alleviate alot of the grumpiness and helps him be more "in the moment" during the day time activities.

Agree on the Mutter Museum. If your teen had any particular interests, let us know and I can give suggestions. Philly is a fab town and so underrated by the DC folk.

Don’t go to south street though, it’s not fun like it used to be. It’s lost its eclectic nature

Yes, this is good. Plus South Street. The Mutter Museum is medical curiosities ... it's gross and weird ... your teen might like it!

Eastern State Pen is great, but Mutter Museum will shock the grumpy out of them.
