We did not because we did FSBO and we’re already friendly with the neighbors and former owners. I knew they wouldn’t come after our stuff. They said they collected key from their cleaners and I believe them. It was helpful to know neighbors already had key if needed. We had no issue but did redo the locks when one broke many many years later.

How many doors do you guys have?

We have a front door and a back door, and then just re-coded the garage door.

And DH did it himself, so it was only the cost of the locks.

We never have. We don't have anything worth stealing...

Did you rekey the locks or did you replace them?

We replaced one lock and rekeyed the rest.

We never have. I know it’s recommended but we just never bothered to. We bought 4 houses (3 new construction).

We did in our first house. It was a rental and the tenants were sketchy.
We didn't in our second house. We knew the previous owners and trusted them.

How much does something like that typically cost?

Most people just get them rekeyed, rather than physically replacing the locksets. It's been 8 years, but rekeying three doors was less than $150.

We did. It was about $1,000, but we bought Medeco locks.

We swapped out all the locks with kwikset and and that let us rekey them all the same easily.

No. You keep the locks but you have a locksmith rekey each lock to fit a new key.

We did. I don't recall how much it cost, but the sellers were displeased to sell to us, so changing the locks was one of the first things we did.
