could be early puberty. What you're describing is how my teens smelled for the first year or so. The hormones SMELL and their sheets smelled and their rooms and UGH everything. Despite daily showers (for DD anyway)

His shoes? My son’s feet/shoes smell like poop. Like can clear a room. I’m constantly replacing them, have odor sprays for them, etc., yet very quickly the new ones smell so bad.

My daughter has a gas "problem" and denies it. I can't tell if she is lying or really doesn't know. One time she asked me "who farted" when we were the only ones in the car. I laughed like good joke and she told me to warn her next time. Uh, what?

Anyway turns out she has megacolon.

I would take him to the doc to figure it out but also because other kids and teachers must be smelling it too and you don't want him getting embarassed.

I notice the smell about an hour or so after a shower.

To answer a few other PPs:

I cant identify a part of his body that the smell is coming from. Its just HIM.

No deodorant use yet.

We have a ped appointment next month.

I dont think its my house. I was with him in a store over the weekend and leaned over to look at something with him and he
smelled distinctly of poop.


Then I think it's coming from his mouth/sinus/stomach. Try taking over the toothbrushing and flossing for a week and see if it helps. Could also be what PPs said about butt scratching. If you think it's diet related, maybe cut down on dairy and meat and up the vegetables and see if it helps.

Yeo. And maybe he's letting gas pass that he doesn't even feel. Try some dietary changes and see if it helps.

Itchy belly button usually equals stinky belly button. Then he scratches it and it’s on his fingers. I know when my husband has been scratching his immediately and I make him go wash his belly button with antibacterial soap. So foul.

Does he have sinus or tonsil or ear issues? Maybe coming from his nose or throat or ears?

His scalp?

I would give him a thorough head to toe wash with something antibacterial like hibiclens to make sure to nuke any bacteria or fungus on his skin. It’s drying but safe and once won’t hurt. If it persists then you need to mention it to the doctor.
