I would argue that this is true for all of Revolution’s teams, not just the girls side. Yes, the boys are better than the girls but that’s not saying much. How do you think a Revolution team would do in, say, the Jefferson Cup? We won’t get the chance to find out since the tournament organizers don’t believe they warrant acceptance but based on what I’ve seen, I can see why they’d hold that opinion. It’s not uncommon for parents to have an artificially inflated opinion of how good their child’s team is based on how much they win but without having any real sense of how good the teams that they’re beating really are. In the case of Revolution, those teams are playing in EDP and NCSL. How would those teams fair against ECNL-RL teams, for example? And how about vs. ECNL-NL or MLS Next teams? Seeing matchups against that level of competition would likely bring a new perspective for some people.
