SAES still does the balloons tied to the mailboxes but it’s done by parent volunteers after decisions go out. They send swag boxes on decision day, as do many others (Bullis, Holton, etc.) Holton HOS makes phone calls.

Honestly, if there are hand-delivered packages involved they'll rescind that offer when I open the door looking like a work from home troll.

Holton HOS called, which I thought was nice. All other schools sent swag packages which was also nice. No visits or yard signs.

I don’t think this is true-timing is off. Acceptances come out 3/1 or so and COVID craziness didn’t start until 3/13. I do remember there were signs but I think they were sent by the school, or even delivered, but not put in the ground lol.

Wait..GDS posts a sign in your yard or do they just send the sign and parents put it up? I would not be happy if a school did this because even though I am really proud of my kids, privacy concerns would make me cautious of that sort of advertisement.

B’more here also. We had one school hand deliver (Bms), another school sent package through ups (friends), and other schools only an email or portal announcement and then you pick up school logo stuff at the acceptance parties. (Park, McDonogh). I’m guessing it varies depending on the year and whether enough volunteers are available.

Why is this tacky? Public school parents leave up their signs for months (public school graduate signs, honor roll signs, where their kid got admitted to college), etc. I have not been through this process so have no opinion.

I’m certain the schools got permission in advance. With permission, it’s a fun thing.

They don't come into your home. And I doubt they even knock on the door (maybe ring the bell and leave on porch).
