Use a grocery store pharmacy. My sons have been on adhd meds for about 5 years and we finally learned that the grocery store was the answer. If they don’t have it in stock they order and have it for us the next day. Unlike CVS and their whole “we only place orders on thursdays”. FYI my sons are on vyvanse and we have never had a problem but we are on the chewable and my kids will only take real vyvanse and not the generic as they say it tastes different. But we have never had a problem getting the brand.

It sucks a lot - the pharmacies will honor Rx that are auto refills before they give to new customers. Your best bet is to go is to call pharmacies and make sure you can get your fill. I've spent a lot of time on the phone for our meds when there was a shortage. I wish I had a better solution for you. Controlled substances are the hardest meds because of the rules around filling them.

I’m just concerned that I’ll find a place that can fill it, but by the time I jump through the hoops to get the doctor to call in a new one or whatever, they’ll be out of stock again.

You can't transfer controlled substances between pharmacies. You have to call the doctor and tell them the new pharmacy, which of course will delay it.

Get a paper prescription that you can take from pharmacy to pharmacy. Yes it sucks.

I’ve had no issues getting the generic Concerta.

Yes struggles getting name brand Vyvanse as well. Check Harris Teeter pharmacies as it seems they still have stock in the DMV, at least right now. For those who pay with the medication using health insurance, check that your insurance covers the pharmacy you find. Otherwise a a month supply of brand name Vyvanse is $300.

We got ours out of state and had a family member send to us. Go to small towns in states with really good hospitals. Think ski resorts.

Do your struggles extend to the name brand version as well? Thanks.

I have been able to find Adderall but sometimes I have to call several pharmacies to find the right dosage. It's much better than it was a year ago when I had to call 10+ places each month.
