We were surprised that our kid was even waitlisted. And yes, needs to take a foreign language at W&M.
I have W&M kid who did 4 years of foreign language in HS. Exempted out of foreign language and selected a major that doesn't require it.
Did not apply to UVA in HS. Now considering a transfer to UVA CAS- but will have to take 2 years foreign language. With regards to AP credits, more was given at W&M than what UVA will take.
What is it that’s driving the requirement for 2 yrs FL at UVA? (I thought generally that 4 yrs of HS foreign language was enough for UVA).

Anonymous wrote:Our kid, who did not apply to UVA as a high school senior, applied as a transfer from VT with a 4.0 GPA College freshman year, and 4.1 GPA in high school. Good rigor.
Waitlisted and ultimately rejected. Transferred to William & Mary and is fine.
And more of our kids credits would have counted at UVA than they did at W&M.

Thank you.
Anyone know majors that UVA kids drop?
Engineering but I don’t know that they drop or if they get booted but that’s kind of a weed out program everywhere. It might be a difficult one to transfer into though. I’d call the school. Dean J posted about transferring before if you don’t follow her, you should! She does live videos where you can ask questions and she will answer them.
Anonymous wrote:It’s much easier to transfer in as ,on gas they’re doing very well at current college. The tricky part is getting the credits to count at UVA.

Yep, a friend's son did this. Didn't get into Tech or UVA. Went to JMU and transferred in after doing well in a business major for a year (maybe two?).
