Mice can pick up on a can't smell, and know cats are a natural predator for them. Some mice are stupid, but most know to stay away in the first place.

Adocks Trapping. No poison, but they will not stop until they have fully solved your problem.

This is really awful for predatory birds. If you have to use poison at least use it inside. This is the compromise I had to make with my husband.

The surviving mice smell the cat and get the heck out of dodge.

I used the Tomcat Press N Set snap traps and stuffed copper scouring pads in holes. Totally worked.

We had traps but there were too many mice. The most helpful hint we got was mesh.

They were coming in and out from the super tiny gap between the kitchen cupboards and the floor. You take pieces of the mesh and stuff it in all along then whole area where the wall or borders or kitchen cupboards connect to the floor. It’s a tedious job but mice can’t bite their way through mesh. You can use a calk type material over the mesh. It worked so far for two years. That was a nightmare.

You have to make sure your cat is a good mouser. We adopted a stray. She came off the streets pregnant and had definitely seen some things! She catches mice now before we even know we have them. And only 2-3 a year so I think her scent is keeping most of them at bay.

Traps were the best. We got the spring traps from amazon. At first we were catching 6 a night (we only had 6 traps) but then the population quickly died down. Peanut butter was the best bait.

Please don’t use poison because it kills owls and foxes and other animals that eat the dead mice.

I use a mouse repellent in the pantry area. It won't get rid of an infestation but that + sealing up all food hopefully keeps them out of the kitchen and pantry.

We bought the rat zapper which worked well. Then I started watched Mousetrap Mondays on YouTube with my tween son. He loved building mousetraps. Every Monday they have a new type of mousetrap. We would go buy supplies on the weekend and build them and try them out.

I think plugging the holes is bullsh!t. There will always be more holes you can’t see, especially in the kitchen behind the cabinets.
