Also the Pitt auto admit is a 4 yr undergrad program- many are 3 yrs and you get your BS upon completion of first year of med school. Just something to keep in mind since some other programs shave a year off undergrad which can help tremendously if full pay.

VT simply for cost, unless kid received merit from the others. And if kid wants to go to VT. Save all money for after undergrad. No matter where kid goes, they need great grades and to take advantage of all research and internship opportunities.

Pitt has a guaranteed admit med school program. If that is an option, go that route. Otherwise, VT is a great choice.

Look at outcomes on their website. And what support pre med students get.
Many doctors attended undergrad institutions that don’t have a medical school attached, that part is irrelevant. Outcomes and undergrad opportunities are what you want to dig deep on.

Undergrads can intern during the summers. They don't have to be on a campus with access to a hospital.
