They all went out last Friday. There is another round of the Presidential and Dean's scholarships. That's what my 4.85 / 35 ACT / 13 AP magnet kid got last year. Extra $5K instate + HC was a nice plus.

@17:41. Boston Colleg Gabelli presidential and Univedity of Richmond Scholars. Gabelli is the preferred choice although UR is tuition room and board.

Many APs (12 tests, I think), including BC Calc.

Great extracurriculars (some in line with major) with leadership.

My takeaway? Be happily surprised if the offer comes through, but don't plan for it. (Glad we didn't!)

Yeah, I was just going to add that there seems to be a layer of serendipity with it. Or, mayve a priority (some sense of who it will convince to choose UMD).

Mine was similar to PP with 4.87W, nmsf, national award, regional awards in a variety of arts and stem, magnet classes, APs (5s), and beyond mvc. Was not BK finalist. Did get HC along with presidential scholarship for 1/2 tuition. Then, department offered several scholarships (more the longer she waited), so she ended up with coa under 10k.

FWIW, her essays weren't the greatest, so perhaps that is a prominent factor for BK?

Yes.

Full ride institutional scholarships almost always use standardized test score cutoffs at or close to perfect scores to qualify applicants. After that, the final awards are based on holistic measures and institutional priorities.

No. I just commented now, my DS was invited for the interview which he turned down. I am sure they could tell by our zip code and my husband's education and position in the workplace.

This was 5 years ago, but DS had 36 ACT, 4.2 weighted GPA, private Catholic HS, decent essays, etc. Identified as Hispanic, white.

Was invited to interview for the full ride, but he turned it down for his first choice private university. Money wasn't an issue for us, and the other school was his dream school forever.

Can you share what these colleges are? I understand if you'd rather not.

Makes no difference. Wealthy family here and DS received the full scholarship.

Is it based on SAT, GPA? And did they get the notification today?
