I did not know the CX-50 was made in America. I only want cars with a VIN starting with the letter "J".

Boring?

Compared to what, exactly?

Mazdas are generally FAR more fun to drive than any of the mainstream non-luxury brands (Toyota, Honda, the US brands, etc.).

Aside from the Miata, (which is now too heavy and fat for it’s available power) I would not call any of their offerings “fun”.

The rest of their entire line consists of non-hot hatchbacks, AWD wagons and boring sedans.

180 hp for 2400 lbs is “heavy and fat”? You don’t know what you are talking about

Yes. 1 hp per 13.6lbs is indeed heavy and fat. That’s a worse power to weight ratio than an a Honda Accord 4 door sedan or a Toyota Camry. And the lowly Dodge Charger positively humiliates the Miata with over 30% more power per pound.

So yes, the Miata is heavy and fat for it’s diminutive little underpowered 4 banger, short on both HP and torque - and what little torque it does make comes on halfway up the tach, of no use getting the car off the line or launching out of a corner after a downshift right before the apex.

(It should be obvious to you by now that not only have I owned several Miatas, but I’ve raced them and modified them extensively.)

My best Miata was a C-series with a swapped-in Ford 302 from a Fox-body Mustang and Tremec 5 spd. Once you’ve driven a Miata with enough engine to take advantage of the suspension, you get mad at Mazda for forcing such a pathetically underpowered car on the public.

So yeah, I definitely know what I’m talking about. Far more so than you.

My 2015 6 is so nice that I'm struggling to get excuses to replace it. They typically have a lot of features, have great handling and steering, are very safe, and look great. It's sad they stopped making the 6 and we didn't get the wagon option.

I had used Mazda3 for ten years; no problems and loved it. I made a mistake of going with Honda HR-V. I really wanted another Mazda, but CX-30 wasn't out yet.
I may change the Honda out for Mazda in May.

I think you’re projecting your dullard’s point of view onto everyone, without really understanding what a minority you are in this circumstance.

First, you're an ass hole for calling PP a dullard. Second, the best selling cars are pickup trucks, rav4s, crvs, and corolla. All of which are boring. So maybe you're the dolt?

2015 Mazda 6 owner here. We paid under $20,000 for it. It has leather seats and is extremely reliable. Fancy it is not. It doesn’t have all the beautiful interior specs that other car makers have. But it is quick on acceleration, has had minimum needs for expensive repairs and has just been a great all around good car.

I am one of those “95%“ people that earlier poster talked about above. I don’t care about having an expensive car. Just one that is nice enough to get me around and is responsive for both braking and acceleration and is safe. we have owned expensive German cars and the repairs are equally as expensive. And I don’t find them to be any more reliable than a cheaper Mazda, or Toyota model car.

I'm looking at getting a new CX-30 or CX-50. Seem to get a lot for the money. A CX-50 is made in a joint venture Toyota plant in Alabama so would think the quality is very good.

I guess it's a matter of frame of reference.

Compare any of Mazda's offerings to mainstream competition (Toyota, Honda, Kia, Ford, etc., etc.) and the Mazda will be more fun to drive--heavier steering, better handling, often torque-ier.

Compared to German luxury brands? Mazda isn't very "fun", but that's not a fair comparison.

Overall, Mazda does a better job than its competitors at avoiding "couch on wheels" syndrome.

Check the C&D or Motortrend reviews--it's a consistent theme.

Sometimes you just want a car to get you from A to B.

Ok, but the poster (you?) specifically mentioned “fun”. Either pay attention, or make up your mind.
