I did the same with my son, like a good Gen x mom, but then the kid started mentioning guns around my child.

Then I realized we’re no longer in Oz and if you ask me now, I’d most definitely put in a separation request.

Put in your request for next year now, to beat the rush, and then repeat in spring. Then call to check in August. Personnel change, and they switch kids at the last minute.

This. If he's this bad to your kid, he might be even worse to other kids, and keeping him away from those will be the priority. Make the request but don't get your hopes up.

I would 100% reference issues with the child that happened elsewhere, true or not. Plus OP said the boy calls her son fat.

FWIW, I put "negative requests" (never heard them called that) down every year of ES for both my kids and they were always honored. I always limited it to no more than 2 kids per year. Many years it was the same kid as the previous year. 7 hours a day x 180 days is a long time to be trapped in a room with someone mean to you.

I would request it but given the situation you described, don't be surprised if they don't honor the request.

I guess you could, but it sounds like none of the other kids would want to be with him either.
