I assume 99.9% of steakhouse patrons get apps, soup, salad and/or sides — at least frites. I only want a steak. Literally just a filet on a plate.
Just throwing it out there - get a different cut. A filet is a steak for someone who doesn't really like steak.
What?? A filet is the best cut of steak!
That’s why it’s so expensive!

Steakhouse sides are sized to be shared, and people often don't get them if they are dining alone.
Is this your first time at a steakhouse, or dining out at all?
I’m aware. But you could still start with soup or salad. Maybe a shrimp cocktail. And most steakhouses have a petite filet + potato + veggie menu item.
I want none of that. Just wasn’t sure how abnormal this would be to the server or bartender.
Anonymous wrote:Just a medium rare filet. Maybe a gin martini too, but I’m undecided if I’ll drink while I wait for the steak. If no martini, just sparkling water. Absolutely no other food or sides. Just craving a good steak. I’ll tip 20 to 25%, of course.

I love steak. I’ve tried em all. Filet remains my favorite. And I don’t like cutting around a bone or fat. Sorry, I can’t be converted. Many have tried over the years.
"I'd like the least flavorful steak you have, please! Oh, it's also one of the most expensive? Fantastic!"
Totally full of flavor. Maybe up your game with your quality of restaurant selection.
